DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AND HYDROLOGY (MYANMAR)

 

25-11-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean has moved West-Northwestwards and now lies over South Bay of Bengal.  It is likely continue to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression during next 12 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu (India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

Depression

            According to the observations at (06:30)hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal is centered at about (260)miles southeast of Puri (India).

It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts, the present stage of the depression is coded yellow stage.

 Position of depression, Center pressure and wind

            Depression is located at Latitude (17.4) degree North and Longitude (88.8) degree East, Centre pressure of depression is (1000) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (35) miles per hour.

During next (12)hrs Forecast

            It is forecast to move Northwestwards and it may further intensify into a deep depression during next (12) hours.

General caution

 Occasional Squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (9- 12) feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
