Storm Warning

According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the depression over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal remains partically stationary and has further intensify into a deep depression. It is centered at about (85)miles North-Northwest of Coco-Island, (85)miles Southwest of Hainggyikyun, (125)miles Southwest of  Pathein and (155)miles South - Southwest of Gwa, (205)miles Southwest of Yangon, Myanmar.

As it is close to Myanmar Coast (Delatic areas), the present stage of the depression is coded red stage on this condition.

Position of deep depression, Center pressure and wind

          Deep depression is located at about Latitude (15.5) degree North and Longitude (93.0) degree East, Centre pressure of depression is (1000) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is about (40 - 45)miles per hour at (13:30) hrs MST today.

Forecast for next (12)hours

          It is forecast to further intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next (12)hrs and reach near Myanmar Coast (Delatic areas), recurve and continue North – Northwest wards today evening.

General caution

When the deep depression is close to Myanmar Coast (Deltaic areas), maximum wind speed will be (45 - 50) mph in Ayeyarwady Region and Rakhine State, (30 - 35) mph in Yangon Region.

The probable maximum storm surge is about (7 - 10) feet at Labutta district in Ayeyarwady Region, Thandwe district in Southern Rakhine State.

Under the influence of the deep depression, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread to widespread with isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthyi Regions, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States during 24th October to 27th October, 2016.

Occasional squalls with rough sea will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40 - 45) m.p.h.

Advisory

Under the influence of the deep depression, strong wind, heavy fall, flash flood and landslide may occur during this time. Advisory for people living near high land areas, small river and streams is to avoid landslide and suddenly rise the rivers levels. Dometic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts are advised especially to avert in this condition.
