01-12-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved West-Southwestwards and crossed North Tamil Nadu coast near Puducherry(India) and downgraded into a Deep depression. It is likely to move continuously West-Southwestwards and crossing the interior of Tamil Nadu(India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Westcentral Bay and Southwest Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Kayah State, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Bago Region and (Eastern and  Southern) Shan State,  scattered in Magway, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, and Mandalay Regions, Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay Region and isolated heavy falls in Magway and Yangon Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Coco Island (5.28) inches, Wundwin (3.72)inches, Putao and Latbutta (2.99) inches each, Lashio (2.60) inches, Htilin (2.58) inches,  Yamathin (2.56)inches, Meikhtila (2.32)inches, Patheingyi (1.57)inches, Thabeikkyin (1.54)inches and Amarapura  (1.40)inches.

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 19th September, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in (Eastern and Northern) Shan State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Sagaing and Magway Regions, Kachin and Southern Shan States, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine , Chin  and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Mandalay Region, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.  

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of thundery activities in the Central Myanmar Areas.
