01-12-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved West-Southwestwards and crossed North Tamil Nadu coast near Puducherry(India) and downgraded into a Deep depression. It is likely to move continuously West-Southwestwards and crossing the interior of Tamil Nadu(India). The centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. Weather is cloudy over the Westcentral Bay and Southwest Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours,weather has been partly cloudy in Eastern Shan State,  rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Upper Sagaing Region, Northern Shan and Chin States, scattered in Lower Sagaing Region, Kachin, Southern Shan, Kayah  and Kayin States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Mandalay Region and isolated heavy falls in Magway Region and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Sittwe (4.92)inches, Natogyi (3.51)inches, Machanbaw (2.56)inches, Hainggyikyun (2.36)inches, Okpo (2.06)inches,  Taungtha (Agro) (1.98)inches, Thayat (1.81)inches, Tatkon (1.11)inches, Kyaukbataung (1.07)inches, Myingyan (1.02)inches and Magway (0.95)inch.

BAY INFERENCE:  Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and weak to moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th September, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Shan (North and East) State, scattered in Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kachin, Southern Shan, Chin and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarway Regions and Rakhine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. 

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Thundery activities in the Central Myanmar Areas.
