SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24)hours, rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Sagaing and Magway Regions, Eastern Shan and Kayah States, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region, Kachin, Southern Shan and Mon States and  widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Naypyitaw and isolated heavy falls in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Yangon Regions, Kachin and Kayin States. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Hlaingbwe (5.12)inches, Machanbaw (3.94)inches, Hmawbi (3.54)inches, Naypyitaw(Yezin) (2.99)inches, Yangon(Mingaladon) (2.80)inches, Manaung (2.68)inches, Naypyitaw (Zayarthiri) (2.56)inches, Shwebo, Taungkok and Kawkayeit (2.48)inches each, Falam and Kyaukpyu (2.20)inches each, Labutta (2.09)inches, Tatkon and Kawthaung (2.05)inches each, Naypyitaw Airport (Ela) and Ngathayouk (1.85)inches each and Khayan (1.61)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman sea and South Bay and weak elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 31st August, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Kayah State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw and (Eastern and Southern) Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin,  Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon- Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Seas will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.  

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
