27-11-2024: According to the observations at (15:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Deep Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards. It is centered at about 735 Nautical miles Southwest of Coco Island(Myanmar), 285 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai(India). Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay of Bengal and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, Southwest monsoon has been withdrawn from the Northern Myanmar areas. Rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Yagon and Taninthayi Regions, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region, Chin, Kayin and Mon States, scattered in Upper Sagaing and Bago Regions, Kachin, Rakhine and Kayah States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Kawthoung (6.06)inches, Myeik (5.63)inches, Launglon (5.20)inches, Central Yangon (2.55)inches and Labutta (2.48)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (11:30) hrs MST today, the low pressure area over West Central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal has crossed to the South Odisha Coast (India). Monsoon is weak in the North Bay and moderate to strong in the Andaman Sea and elsewhere in the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 17th September, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Kayin and Mon States, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Rakhine State, scattered in Chin and Kayah States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and isolated heavy falls in Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama off and along Mon – Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35 - 40) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar areas.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
