SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Mandalay and Magway Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing and Taninthayi Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (6.26) inches in Homalin, (5.04) inches in Minbya, (4.96) inches in Gwa, (4.53) inches in Myauk U, (3.60) inches in Ponnagyun, (3.11) inches each in Maungdaw and Launglon, (2.72) inches in Putao, (2.68) inches each in Thaton, Mudon and Paung and (2.55) inches in Sittwe.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Typhoon “Saola” over the Phillippine Sea is likely to move Southwards slowly.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 27th August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Mandalay, Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Southern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine State and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and (5-7) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Taninthayi Region and Shan, Kayin, Mon States.
