17-12-2024: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal has further intensified into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 48 hours. Weather is generally fair over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, light rain h‌ave been isolated in Taninthayi Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan State. Weather has been generally fair in Naypyitaw and Chin State and partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were 5°C below December average temperature in Rakhine State, 2°C below December average temperature in Chin State and 2°C above December average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago Regions and (Northern and Southern)Shan, Kayah, Kayin States and 3°C to 4°C above December average temperatures in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Eastern Shan, Mon States and about December average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were 0.0°C in Hakha, 6.3°C in Putao, 7.7°C in Tiddim, 8.3°C in Pyinoolwin, 9.5°C in Namsan(Southern Shan), 9.6°C in Myitkyina, 10.5°C in Loilin, 10.8°C in Machanbaw and 11.0°C each in Pinlaung and Heho. 

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over South Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial India Ocean still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify during next 24 hrs. Thereafter, it is likely to reach over Southwest Bay of Bengal (off Sri Lanka - Tamil Nadu Coast, India) around 11-12-2024. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 10th December 2024: Light rain are likely to be isolated in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine States. Degree of certainty is 60%. Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Taninthayi Region. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 4-7 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of isolated light rain in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.
