17-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 48 hours. Weather is generally fair over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Magway Regions and Northern Shan, Rakhine, Kayah States. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay Region and Chin State, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Bago Regions and Kachin, Southern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.64 inches in Yangon (Botahtaung), 2.09 inches in Yangon(Mingaladon), 2.00 inches in Pantanaw, 1.95 inches in Kyaiklat, 1.73 inches in Myeik, 1.52 inches in Ngaputaw,  1.38 inches each in Yangon(Mayangone) and Kawthaung, 1.37 inches in Kamamaung and 1.34 inches in Kyeikkhame.

 BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30) hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure cell over the North Andaman Sea still persists. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 21st October 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Sagaing Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, Chin States, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Southern Shan, Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Occassional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 9-11 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Fairly widespread to widespread rain or thundershowers with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
