17-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 48 hours. Weather is generally fair over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw, Bago Region and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Kayah States. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Magway Region and Kachin, Southern Shan, Rakhine States, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Chin, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 3.81 inches in Kawthaung, 1.77 inches in Yangon(Botahtaung), 1.73 inches in Phyarpon, 1.38 inches in Khayan, 1.30 inches in Htilin, 1.20 inches in Kyaiklat, 1.18 inches in Myaungmya and 1.14 inches each in Mingin and Kyaukhtu.

 BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, a low pressure cell has formed over the North Andaman sea. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay and Westcentral Bay of Bengal and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th October 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Northern Shan State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kachin, (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Kayin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30-35 mph. Wave height will be about 7-9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Fairly widespread to widespread rain or thundershowers with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
