SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Naypyitaw, Magway Region and Chin State. Rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region and Southern Shan, Mon States, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Rakhine States, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon Regions and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Kayin States and isolated in Kayah State with isolated heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing, Yangon, Taninthayi Regions. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Magway Region and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine, Kayah States and 2°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kayin State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 42.6°C in Chauk, 41.0°C in Nyaung Oo, 40.6°C in Aunglan, 40.0°C each in Kalewa and Pakokku, 39.4°C in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw), 39.0°C each in Tada U(Aviation-Met), Minbu and Magway and 38.8°C in Myingyan on 31-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 5.51 inches in Myeik, 4.13 inches in Khayan, 3.00 inches in Kyeitlat, 2.71 inches in Kawthaung, 2.36 inches in Nyaung Shwe, 2.04 inches in Labutta, 1.85 inches in Sagaing, 1.77 inches in Coco Island, 1.74 inches in Theinzayet and 1.38 inches in Dawei.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is weak to moderate over the North Bay of Bengal and moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 2ndJune 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Magway Region and Chin, Rakhine States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Northern Shan, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 30 - 35 mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 7 - 9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and 5 - 7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Increase of rain Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
