25-12-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal(off South Andhra Pradesh-North Tamil Nadu Coasts, India) still persists. It is likely to move West-Southwestwards and weaken gradually into a Low Pressure Area during next 24 hours. Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, southwest monsoon has advanced into the whole Country. Weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Eastern Shan, Chin States. Rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region and Mon State, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon Regions and Northern Shan, Kayin States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Magway, Bago, Yangon Regions and Eastern Shan State and 2°C above May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and (Northern and Southern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine States and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed  41.4°C in Chauk, 40.5°C in Myinmu, 40.0°C each in Nyaung Oo and Pakokku, 39.8°C in Mandalay, 39.1°C in Myingyan, 39.0°C each in Shwebo, Kyaukse(Lunkyaw) and Magway and  38.8°C in Minbu on 30-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.83 inches Gwa, 2.20 inches in Mawlamyine, 2.05 inches in Kawthaung, 1.97 inches in Madauk, 1.38 inches in Nyaunglaybin, 1.34 inches in Shwekyin, 1.22 inches in Myaungmya and 1.18 inches in Thaton.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is moderate to strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 1st June 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Magway Region, scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Mon State. Degree of certainty is 100%.

STATE OF THE SEA: Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach 30 - 35 mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 7 - 9 feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and 5 - 7 feet in off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 1st June 2024:   Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 100%.

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR WEEKEND: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and widespread in Yangon Region.
