25-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal(off South Andhra Pradesh-North Tamil Nadu Coasts, India) still persists. It is likely to weaken gradually into a Low Pressure Area during next 24 hours. Weather is a few cloud over the Eastcentral and Southeast Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, southwest monsoon has advanced into the Southern Myanmar areas, Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region and Southern Shan, Mon States, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region and Eastern Shan, Chin, Rakhine States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Magway, Yangon Regions and Northern Shan, Kayah States and isolated in Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago  Regions and Kayin States with regionally heavyfalls in Magway Region. Weather has been partly cloudy in Kachin State. Day temperatures were 5°C to 6°C above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Rakhine States, 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Magway, Bago Regions and Chin, Kayin, Mon States and 2°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayah State and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 42.4°C in Chauk, 41.7°C in Minbu, 41.6°C in Myinmu, 40.6°C in Magway, 40.5°C each in Kalewa and Nyaung Oo, 40.3°C in Mandalay, 40.2°C in Tamu and 40.0°C each in Homalin, Kyaukse(Lunkyaw) and Ann on 22-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.91 inches in Minbu, 1.97 inches in Magway, 1.81 inches in Tiddim, 1.73 inches each in Pinlaung, Ann and Dawei, 1.61 inches in Haingyigyun, 1.53 inches in Coco Island, 1.49 inches in Pathein, 1.46 inches in Heho and 1.30 inches in Loilin.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Low Pressure Area over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Bay of Bengal has further intensified into a well Marked Low Pressure Area. It is likely to move northeastwards and intensify into a Depression over Central Bay of Bengal around 24-5-2024 morning. Thereafter, it may continue to move northeastwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal around 25-5-2024 morning, it would move nearly northwards and intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm. It may reach near Bangladesh and adjoining west Bengal coasts, India by  26-5-2024 evening. Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal. Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay and cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 24th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Southern Shan, Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Eastern Shan, Rakhine States, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan, Chin, Kayah States and isolated in Sagaing Region and Kachin State with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is 100%.

THE CONDITION OF CUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach 40-45 m.p.h. Wave height will be about 9-12 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Eastern Shan, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
