SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Southern Shan, Mon States, fairly widespread in Yangon, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin State, scattered in Mandalay, Bago Regions and Northern Shan State and isolated in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayah States. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 9°C above May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayin State, 7°C to 8°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago Regions and Kachin, Mon States, 5°C to 6°C above May average temperatures in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Northern Shan, Chin States and 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Taninthayi Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine, Kayah States. The significant day temperatures were observed 46.6°C in Chauk, 45.5°C in Myinmu, 45.4°C in Magway, 45.3°C in Tada U (Aviation-Met), 45.2°C each in Sagaing and Myingyan, 45.0°C each in Shwebo, Nyaung Oo, Minbu, Aunglan and Taungdwingyi and 44.8°C in Monywa on 16-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.72 inches in Kya-In-Seikkyi, 2.17 inches in Chaungsone, 1.26 inches each in Myawaddy and Paung, 1.00 inches in Paing Kyone, 0.87 inch in Thaton, 0.79 inch in Belin, 0.75 inch in Theinzayet and 0.55 inch each in Loilin and Nyaunglaybin.
BAY INFERENCE: Weather is a few cloud over the North Bay of Bengal and partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States, fairly widespread in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Southern Shan State, scattered in Bago Region and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Kayah States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 80%.
THE CONDITION OFCUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
