SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Magway Region and Rakhine State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayah, Mon States, scattered in Mandalay, Yangon Regions and Kayin State, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing Region and widespread in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 5°C above May average temperature in Kayin State, 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Mon State and 2°C above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Rakhine, Kayah States and 2°C below May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 42.9°C in Chauk, 41.6°C in Shwekyin, 41.5°C each in Taungdwingyi and Tharrawady, 41.4°C in Aunglan, 41.3°C  in Magway, 41.2°C in Ngathaichaung, 41.0°C each in Kyaukse(Lunkyaw), Minbu, Pyay and Nyaunglaybin and 40.8°C in Ann on 10-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 2.24 inches in Mongyang, 1.30 inches in Coco Island, 1.22 inches in Payathonsu, 1.10 inches in Mawlaik, 1.02 inches in Dawei, 0.98 inch in Muse, 0.79 inch each in Moemate and Mineset, 0.67 inch in Myeik, 0.63 inch in Phyu and 0.55 inch in Kawthaung.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and a few cloud elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 12th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Eastern Shan, Chin States, scattered in Lower Sagaing, Yangon Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Southern)Shan, Kayin, Mon States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 80%.

THE CONDITION OFCUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Chin, Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight increase of day temperatures in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 12th May 2024:             Likelihood of isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 60%.
