SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED FROM YESTERDAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T TO TODAY MORNING 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin State, scattered in Kachin, Rakhine States and isolated in Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Northern Shan, Mon States. Weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were 3°C to 4°C above May average temperatures in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States and 2°C above May average temperatures in Northern Shan, Rakhine States, 4°C below May average temperature in Upper Sagaing Region and 5°C below May average temperature in Kachin State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were observed 42.5°C in Zaung Tu, 42.0°C each in Pyay and Shwekyin, 41.9°C in Aunglan, 41.6°C each in Bago and Myawaddy, 41.1°C in Magway, 41.0°C each in Nyaunglaybin and Ngathaichaug and 40.7°C in Taunggu (Aviation-Met) on 6-5-2024. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 0.43 inch in Gangaw, 0.39 inch each in Hakha and Tiddim, 0.24 inch each in Putao, Machanbaw and Tongzan, 0.20 inch in Sittwe, 0.16 inch in Mawlaik and 0.10 inch in Htilin.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is a few cloud over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 8th May 2024: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Southern Shan, Chin States, scattered Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Tanintharyi Regions and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine, Kayah States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is 80%.

THE CONDITION OFCUMULONIMBUS CLOUD: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 5-7 feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of scattered to farily widespread rain or thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Tanithayi Regions and Kachin, Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States.

FORECAST FOR NAYPYITAW AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 8th May 2024:                                 Isolated rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 80%.

FORECAST FOR YANGON AND NEIGHBOURING AREA FOR 8th May 2024:                                      Likelihood of isolated light rain or thundershowers. Degree of certainty is 60%.
