SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Eastern Shan State. Weather has been generally fair in Lower Sagaing, Bago, Ayeyarwady Regions and partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Night temperatures were (2°C) below January average temperature in Chin State and (2°C) above January average temperatures in Mandalay, Magway, Bago Regions and Rakhine State and (3°C) to (4°C) above January average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Ayayarwady Region and (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States and about January average temperatures in the remaing Regions and States. The significant night temperatures were (-1°C) in Hakha, (4°C) each in Heho, Tiddim and (6°C) each in Putao, Kyaukmae, Namsam(Southern Shan), Mongyang, Matupi, Pyinoolwin and Mogoke.  The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (0.16) inch each in Minesat and Naypyitaw(Zabuthiri), (0.12) inch each in Naypyitaw(Otarathiri) and Naypyitaw(Zayarthiri) and (0.04) inch each in Kengtung and Ela.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is a few cloud to partly cloudy over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 17th January 2024:  Rain or thundershowers are likely to be isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and (Northern and Southern) Shan State and scattered in Eastern Shan State. Degree of certainty is (60%).  Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States.

STATE OF THE SEA: Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (3-6) feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of slight decrease of night temperatures in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Shan State.
