SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in (Northern and Eastern) Shan, Kayah States. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Kachin State, scattered in Sagaing Region and Southern Shan, Kayin States, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and Mon State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (6.50) inches in Kawthaung, (3.71) inches in Pakokku, (3.03) inches in Hainggyigyun, (2.95) inches in Maubin, (2.83) inches in Putao, (2.80) inches in Launglon, (2.68) inches in Kyauktaw, (2.64) inches in Dawei, (2.50) inches in Laymyethna and (2.21) inches in Taungtha.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Tropical Storm “Haikui” over the South China Sea is likely forecast to move West-Northwestwards and cross the Southeast coasts of China on (5.9.2023).
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 05th September 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Upper Sagaing Region and (Northern and Eastern)Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Lower Sagaing Region and Kachin, Southern Shan States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kayin State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35-40) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (9-11) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi and (6-8) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
