SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan, Chin States, scattered in Rakhine State, fairly widespread in Upper Sgaing, Bago Region and Eastern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (6.97) inches in Hainggyigyun, (2.98) inches in Belin, (2.87) inches in Homalin, (2.80) inches in Gwa, (2.64) inches in Coco Island, (2.48) inches each in Mawlamyine and Launglon, (2.12) inches each in Kawkareik and Thaton and (1.69) inches each in Chaungsone and Dawei.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Typhoon “Saola” over the Philippines Sea is likely forecast to move Northwestwards.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 30th August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Bago Regions and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi and (5-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Moderate to strong monsoon over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal.
