SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in (Southern and Eastern)Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Mon State and isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing Region and Rakhine State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (4.13) inches in Taungkok, (4.05) inches in Hkamti, (3.35) inches in Chaungsone, (3.03) inches in Mudon, (2.99) inches in Manaung, (2.84) inches in Kyaukpyu, (2.76) inches in Kya-In-Seikkyi, (2.36) inches in Gwa, (2.32) inches in Mogaung and (2.21) inches in Thandwe.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
SPECIAL FEACTURES: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Typhoon “Saola” over the Philippines Sea is likely forecast to move North- Northwestwards.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 29th August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Kayah State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Shan, Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin, Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi and (5-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuations of strong monsoon over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal.
