BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and cross North Odisha and North Chhattisgarth during next (48)hrs.Monsoon is moderate over the Andaman Sea and South Bay and moderate to strong elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 18th August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Kayah State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Bago Region and Northern Shan, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region and Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (100%).
STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (8-10) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and about (6-8) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
