SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Bago Region and Kachin, Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Magway, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (9.84) inches in Thaton, (9.60) inches in Hpa-an, (8.66) inches in Belin, (6.73) inches in Thandwe, (6.00) inches in Ngaputaw, (5.48) inches in Shan-Ywar-Thit, (4.72) inches in Kyaukpyu, (4.20) inches in Paing Kyone, (4.05) inches in Khayan, (3.98) inches in Hlaingbwe, (3.54) inches in Machanbaw and (3.23) inches in Putao.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the depression over North Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression. It is centered at about (65) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Maungdaw, (115) Nautical miles Northwest of Sittwe, (170) Nautical miles Northwest of Kyaukpyu(Myanmar), (210) Nautical miles East of Digha (India), (70) Nautical miles East-Southeast of Khepupara(Bangladesh). Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 02nd August, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Region and Northern Shan, Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin State. STATE OF THE SEA: Frequently squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (45-50)m.p.h. Occassional squalls with rough seas will be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) m.p.h. Wave height will be about (12-15) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coast and (9-11) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.
