SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in (Southern and Eastern) Shan State, fairly widespread in Northern Shan, Kayah States, scattered in Mandalay, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States, isolated in Sagaing, Magway Regions and Kachin, Chin States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were (7°C) above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region, (5°C) to (6°C) above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Chin States, (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States and (2°C) above May average temperatures in Yangon Region and (Southern and Eastern)Shan States and (6°C) below May average temperature in Northern Shan State and about May average temperature in Kayah State. The significant day temperatures were (46°C) in Chauk, (45°C) in Tamu, (44°C) each in Nyaung Oo and Gangaw and (43°C) each in Kalewa, Kalay and Myinmu. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (2.32) inches in Hpa-an(Agro-Met), (2.24) inches in Mogoke, (1.89) inches in Loikaw, (1.50) inches in Nyaung Shwe, (1.10) inches in Thaton and (0.98) inch in Heho.
BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “MOCHA” over Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards and still persists. It is centered at about (345) Nautical miles West-Southwest of CoCo Island, (460) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Hainggyigyun, (580) Nautical miles South- Southwest of Sittwe, (445) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Nicobar Islands (India), (285) Nautical miles West of Port Blair (India) and (630) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh). Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay of Bengal and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 12th May, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Kayah, Kayin, Mon states, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and Northern Shan State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Taninthayi Regions and Chin, Rakhine States and isolated in the Upper Sagaing Region and Kachin State. Degree of certainty is (80%).
The Condition of Cumulonimbus Cloud: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing over Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Shan, Kayin, Mon States. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.
STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squall with rough seas will be experienced off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Wave height will be about (8-13) feet in off and along Myanmar Coasts.
OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Shan, Rakhine States.
