SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Southern Shan State, fairly widespread in Kayah State, scattered in Mandalay Region and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern) Shan States, isolated in Naypyitaw, Bago, Yangon, Taninthayi Regions and Kayin, Mon States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining Regions and States. Day temperatures were (7°C) above May average temperatures in Upper Sagaing Region and Chin State and (5°C) above May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Bago Regions and Kachin, (Northern and Eastern)Shan States and (3°C) to (4°C) above May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (46°C) in Chauk, (45°C) each in Gangaw, Bawlakhae and (44°C) each in Kalewa, Nyaung Oo, Tada U(Avia-Met), Minbu,  Magway, Taungdwingyi and Taunggu. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (1.48) inches in Kawkareik, (1.18) inches in Pyinoolwin, (0.98) inch in Thipaw, (0.91) inch in Nyaung Shwe, (0.87) inch in Naungcho and (0.67) inch in Heho.

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (12:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea still persists. It is likely intensify into a Depression during next (9) hrs and into a Cyclonic Storm over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea around (10.5.2023). The Cyclonic Storm is likely to move North-Northwestwards and reach to Eastcentral Bay of Bengal around (12.5.2023) and then recurve North- Northeastwards and move to Bangladesh-Myanmar Coasts. Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay of Bengal and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 10th May, 2023: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Taninthayi Region and Shan State, fairly widespread in Kayah State, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Kayin, Mon States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States. Degree of certainty is (80%).

The Condition of Cumulonimbus Cloud: The Cumulonimbus clouds are developing over the Mandalay, Taninthayi Regions and Shan State. The area along the Cumulonimbus clouds movement, the weather phenomena such as strong winds accompanied with rain, thunder, lightning and hail may occur and therefore it is recommended to be aware in advance these phenomena.

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squall with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35) mph. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7-10) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (4-7) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of widespread rain or thundershowers in Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and (Southern and Eastern)Shan, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon States and scattered to fairly widespread in Sagaing, Taninthayi Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan, Chin States.
