SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Naypyitaw, Mandalay Region and Eastern Shan, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing, Magway Regions and (Northern and Southern) Shan, Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Rakhine State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (3.58) inches in Rambree, (2.24) inches in Coco Island, (1.97) inches in Bhamo, (1.77) inches each in Thandwe and Ngathaichaung, (1.73) inches each in Homalin and Moekok, (1.50) inches in Manaung and (1.42) inches each in Gwa and Yangon (Mayangon).

BAY INFERENCE: According to the observations at (13:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over the North Bay of Bengal is centered at about (200) Nautical miles West of Maungdaw, (230) Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), (115) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Balasore, (85) Nautical miles East- Southeast of Digha, (60) Nautical miles East of Sagar Island (India). Monsoon is strong over the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 20th August, 2022: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Naypyitaw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Eastern Shan, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, (Northern and Southern) Shan, Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavyfalls in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Rakhine State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasionally squall with rough seas may be experienced in Gulf of Mottama, Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40)mph. Squall with moderate to rough seas are likely at times off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (30-35)mph. Wave height will be about (9-13) feet in Gulf of Mottama, Deltaic,off and along Rakhine Coasts and (7-9) feet in off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of increase of rain in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine State.
