SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing Region, scattered in Upper Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon Regions and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Ayeyarwady Region and Northern Shan State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region. Day temperatures were (2°C) above May average temperatures in Magway Region and Kachin State, (2°C) below May average temperatures in Ayeyarwady Region and Southern Shan, Chin, Kayin States, (3°C) to (4°C) below May average temperatures in Naypyitaw, Taninthayi Region and Northern Shan State, (5°C) below May average temperatures in Lower Sagaing Region and Kayah State and (7°C) below May average temperature in Eastern Shan State and about May average temperatures in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (41°C) in Minbu and (40°C) each in Chauk and Magway. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were (9.72) inches in Ye, (6.82) inches in Payathonesu, (6.78) inches in Kya-In-Seikkyi, (6.38) inches in Myawady, (6.00) inches in Kyeikdon, (5.35) inches in Myeik, (4.88) inches in Thaton, (4.85) inches in Paing Kyone and (3.54) inches in Kawkareik.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman Sea, South Bay and Eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Weather is partly cloudy to cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 23rd May, 2022: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway Regions and Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Kachin, Southern Shan and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of regionally heavyfalls in Taninthayi Region and Kayin, Mon States and isolated heavyfalls in Ayeyarwady Region. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Occasional squall with rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (40) mph. Squall with rough seas are likely at times elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35) mph. Wave height will be about (10-12) feet in Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts and (8-10) feet off and along Rakhine Coast.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuations of increase of rain in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Kayin, Mon States.
