SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region. Rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Mandalay Region and Northern Shan State, fairly widespread in Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavyfalls in Magway, Bago and Yangon Regions and isolated heavyfalls in Mandalay, Taninthayi Regions and Mon State. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were (6.61) inches in Hlegu, (4.65) inches in Magway, (4.49) inches in Bago, (4.22) inches each in Hmawbi and Yangon(Kaba-Aye), (4.10) inches in Khayan, (4.05) inches in Zaung Tu, (3.86) inches each in Yangon(Mingaladon) and Central Yangon, (3.74) inches in Myeik, (3.58)inches in Minbu, (3.30)inches in Thaton and (3.00) inches in Saw.

BAY INFERENCE: Weather is cloudy over the North Bay and Eastcentral Bay and monsoon is weak to moderate over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL MORNING OF THE 18th October, 2021: Rain or thundershowers will be isolated in Northern Shan State, scattered in Sagaing, Mandalay Regions and Kachin, Kayah States, fairly widespread in Naypyitaw, Magway Region and (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavyfalls in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Taninthayi Regions and Rakhine, Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough seas are likely at times Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (30-35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about (7– 9) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts and about (5-7) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-Taninthayi Coasts.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Weak monsoon over the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal.
