17-12-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move Northwestwards and reach to North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts, India during next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly Northwards and move along Andhra Pradesh Coast during 48 hours. Weather is generally fair over the North Andaman Sea and partly cloudy to cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Depression

          According to the observations at (13:30) hrs MST today, the  depression over Northeast Bay of Bengal remain practically stationary and centered at about (90)miles West– Southwest of Chittagong (Bangladesh), (140)miles West-Northwest of Maungdaw (Myanmar) and (190)miles Northwest of Sittwe (Myanmar ). 

          The present stage of the depression is coded yellow stage. It is not moving towards Myanmar coasts.

 Position of depression, Center pressure and wind

          Depression is located at Lattitude (22.0) degree North and Longitude (90.2)degree East, Centre pressure of depression is (994) hatopascal and maximum wind speed near the center is (40)miles per hour at (13:30) hrs MST today.

 General caution

          Under the influence of the depression, rain will be widespread in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States with isolated to regionally heavy falls, strong wind and flesh flood.

Occasional squalls with rough seas will be experienced off and alongMyanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (40) to (45) m.p.h.

         Trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts are advised to avert possible condition.
