27-11-2024: According to the observations at (17:30) hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards. It is centered at about 730 Nautical miles West-Southwest of CoCo Island (Myanmar), 270 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Chennai (India). The centre pressure of Deep Depression is 1001 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 35 miles per hour.Weather is partly cloudy over the North Bay of Bengal and cloudy over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, weather has been partly cloudy in Lower Sagaing Region and Northern Shan State, rain or thundershowers have been widespread in Taninthayi Region, Eastern Shan, Chin and  Mon States, fairly widespread in  Upper Sagaing Region, Southern Shan, Rakhine and Kayah States, scattered in Mandalay, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin and Kayin States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with isolated heavy falls in Mandalay Region and Mon State. Day temperatures were (3°C) above May average temperatures in Bago Region and Kayah State and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (40°C) in Bawlakhae, (39°C) each in Monywa, Myingyan and Chauk. The observed highest Ultra Violet indexes were Naypyitaw (8.8), Yangon (7.3) and Mandalay (10.3). The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Chaungsone (3.07)inches, Paung (2.52)inches, Kyeikkhame (2.48)inches, Sittwe (2.21)inches, Tada U (1.57)inches, Mawlamyine (1.50)inches, Kawthong (1.42)inches, Homalin (1.30)inches and Labutta (1.06)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong to vigorous over the Andaman sea and Southeast Bay and weather is partly cloudy elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 30th May, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be widespread in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Rakhine and Mon States, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Chin and Kayin States, scattered in Shan and Kayah States and isolated in the remaining Regions and States with likelihood of isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Rakhine and Mon States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA:  Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at time Deltaic, Gulf of Mottama, off  and along Mon - Taninthayi Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h. Sea will be moderate elsewhere in Myanmar waters.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Likelihood of thundery activities in the Central Myanmar areas.
