SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours, Southwest Monsoon has advanced into the Deltaic areas. Rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Lower Sagaing and Mandalay Regions, Chin State, scattered in Magway Region and Kachin State, fairly widespread in Southern Shan States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions and isolated heavy falls in Taninthayi Region and Rakhine State. Day temperatures were (5°C) to (6°C) below May average temperatures in Mandalay and Magway Regions, (3°C) to (4°C) below May average temperature in Lower Sagaing, Bago and Taninthayi Regions, Kachin, Northern Shan, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States and about May average temperature in the remaining Regions and States. The significant day temperatures were (35°C) each in Mawlike, Kalaywa and Gangaw, (34°C) each in Kalay, Monywa, Mandalay, Hmawbi, Yangon(Kaba-Aye), Yangon(Central) and Myaungmya. The observed highest Ultra Violet indexes were Naypyitaw (4.4), Yangon (0.4) and Mandalay (9.2). The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Mawlike (6.89)inches, Kawthong (6.74)inches, Heingyikyun (6.14)inches, Yangon (Northern Dagon) (5.83)inches, Bago (5.28)inches, Hmawbi (4.96)inches, Gwa (4.41)inches, Ngathaichaung (4.33)inches, Nyaungtone (4.10)inches, Phyapon (3.94)inches, Yangon(Central) (3.74)inches, Kayan (3.54) inches, Yangon (Mingaladon) (3.46)inches, Zaung Tu (3.31)inches and Kalay (3.23)inches.
BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is vigorous over the Andaman sea and Southeast Bay. Weather is cloudy over the east central Bay and partly cloudy elsewhere Bay of Bengal.
FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 25th May, 2016: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regiones, Chin State, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan and Kayah States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy fall in Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi Regions, Mon State and isolated heavy fall in Rakhine and Kayin States.
