According to the observations at (05:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG” overWestcentral Bay and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengalhas moved North-Northeastwards and centered at about (360) Nautical miles West-Northwest ofHainggyigyun, (340) Nautical miles West-Southwest of Thandwe, (295) Nautical miles Southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar), (240) Nautical miles South of Sagar Island (India) and (320) Nautical miles South-Southwest of Barisal(Bangladesh).

It is not moving towards Myanmar Coasts, the present stage of the Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG” is coded yellow stage.

            The Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG” is located at Latitude (17.5) degree North and Longitude (88.4) degree East, centre pressure of Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG”is (996) hPaand maximum wind speed near the center is (45-50) miles per hour at (05:30)hrs MST today.

During next (36) hrs forecast

 It is likely comtinueto move North-Northeastwards and intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG” during next (12) hours and will cross Bangladesh Coasts between Tincona Island and Sandwip Island around (25.10.2022).

General caution

Due to Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG”, likelihood of fairly widespread to widespread rain or thundershowers in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Yangon, AyeyarwadyRegions and Kachin, Chin, Rakhine States with regionally and isolated heavyfalls in some Regions and States from today morning  to (26.10.2022). Frequently squall with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along RakhineCoasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (60) mph. Squall with rough seas are likely at timesin Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-TaninthayiCoasts. Surface wind speed in squall may reach (35-40) mph.Wave height will be about (14-18) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coastand (9-11) feet in Gulf of Mottama, off and along Mon-TaninthayiCoasts.

Under the influence of the Cyclonic Storm “SITRANG”, people should be awared of strong wind, heavy rain, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and also domestic flight, trawlers, vessels and ships off and along Myanmar Coasts.
