12-12-2024: According to the observations at (05:30) hrs M.S.T today, the well marked low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal(off Sri Lanka Coast ) is crossing near North Sri Lanka coast. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may reach over Tamil Nadu Coast, India, during next 6 hrs. Weather is a few cloud  over the North Bay and East central  bay and partly cloudy to cloudy  over the  Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

33rd National Monsoon Forum

The ceremony of 33rd National Monsoon Forum was held in Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), Ministry of Transport and Communications in Nay Pyi Taw on 5th November, 2024. At the opening ceremony, Dr. Kyaw Moe Oo, Director General of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology delivered the opening remark.

Departmental representatives from Disaster Management, Agriculture Department, Water and other related Departments and participants from Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, a total of 65 attended this forum.

The forum covered the reviewing of seasonal meteorological and hydrological forecast in Rainy Season of 2024 (Southwest Monsoon Period) and agro-climatic condition, presenting on meteorological and hydrological forecasts for the coming Winter Season (from November 2024 to February 2025), extreme weather events and future climate change projection in Myanmar, and seismic and tsunami disaster in Myanmar. Forum attendees also discussed the sectorial lessons learned from climate, weather, and water related events during the Rainy Season of 2024 (Southwest Monsoon Period), sectorial preparedness conditions by using the seasonal forecasts for the coming Winter Season 2024-2025 and also exchanged suggestions and recommendations.
