Severe Cyclonic Storm “DANA” Condition

According to the observations at (17:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Severe Cyclonic Storm “DANA” over Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northwestwards still persist over Northwest Bay of Bengal and it is centered at about 300 Nautical miles West-Northwest of Sittwe(Myanmar), 85 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Dhamara(India). The central pressure of Cyclonic Storm is 984 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 65-70 miles per hour.

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Severe Cyclonic Storm “DANA” is coded as yellow stage.

Forecast

 It is likely to continute to move North-Northwestwards and cross North Odisha and West Bengal Coasts between Puri and Sagar Island close to Dhamara(India) early morning of 25-10-2024.

Due to the Severe Cyclonic Storm “DANA”, rain or thundershowers are likely to be fairly widespresd to widespread in Naypyitaw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyarwady Regions and Kachin, Northern Shan, Chin, Rakhine States with likelihood of regionally and isolated heavyfalls and strong winds tonight up to next (24)hrs.

Frequently squalls with rough to very rough seas will be experienced in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (50-55) m.p.h and wave height will be about (11-15) feet in Deltaic, off and along Rakhine Coasts.

 Advisory

 People should be awared the natural disasters such as the heavy rainfall with strong wind, thunder, lightning, hails, flash flood and landslide in the hilly areas and near small rivers and inland water transport and domestic flight.
