Depression

According to the observations at (12:30)hrs M.S.T today, the Depression over Southwest Bay has moved West-Northwestwards now lies over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal. It is centered at about 615 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Coco Island (Myanmar), 165 Nautical miles East-Southeast of Chennai (India). The centre pressure of Depression is (1004) hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is (30-35) miles per hour.

It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Depression is coded as yellow stage.

Forecast

 It is likely to continue to move West-Northwestwards and may cross North Tamil Nadu- South Andhra Pradesh coasts, near Chennai around 17-10-2024 morning.
