23-11-2024: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area has formed over East Equatorial India Ocean and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, its likely to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu(India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and a few cloud to partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours,  rain or thundershowers have been scattered in Mandalay, Magway and Ayeyarwady Regions, fairly widespread in Lower Sagaing, Bago and Yangon Regions, Rakhine State and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, Rakhine State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Paung (7.56) inches, Launglone (6.54)inches, Yay (6.02)inches,  Thaton (5.86) inches, Mawlamyine (5.43) inches, Dawei (5.35)inches, Gwa (5.27)inches, Hpa-an (5.00)inches, Kyainseikkyi (4.48) inches, Htilin (3.85)inches, Tamu, Yeu and Kawkayeit (3.11)inches each, Kyeikkhame (2.99)inches and Coco Island (2.83)inches

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 23rd August, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Magway Region, fairly widespread in Mandalay Region and Shan State, widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi  Region, Rakhine, Kayin and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Sagaing, Mandalay,Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kachin and Chin States. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35 ) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Continuation of increase of rain in the Taninthayi Region, Kayin and Mon States.
