23-11-2024: According to the observations at (15:30) hrs M.S.T today, the low pressure area has formed over East Equatorial India Ocean and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal still persists. It is likely to move West-Northwestwards and may further intensify into a depression over South Bay of Bengal around 25-11-2024. Thereafter, its likely to move Northwestwards and may reach to Tamil Nadu(India)-Sri Lanka coasts during next 2 days. Weather is cloudy over the South Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal and a few cloud to partly cloudy over the North Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal.

SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS RECORDED AT 09:30 hrs M.S.T: During the past (24) hours,  rain or thundershowers have been isolated in Mandalay and Magway Regions, scattered in Lower Sagaing, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing Region, Kachin, Shan, Chin and Kayin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Upper Sagaing Region, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Ayeyarwady and Taninthayi  Regions, Kayah State. The noteworthy amounts of rainfall recorded were Haing Gyi Kyun (14.17) inches, Hkamti (4.57)inches, Chaungsone (4.53)inches,  Kyeikkhame (4.45) inches, Maungdaw (4.36) inches, Launglon (3.74)inches, Loikaw (3.59)inches, Yay (3.34)inches, Sittwe (3.19) inches and Tamu (3.11)inches.

BAY INFERENCE: Monsoon is strong in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

FORECAST VALID UNTIL EVENING OF THE 22st August, 2015: Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Lower Sagaing, Mandalay and Magway Regions, fairly widespread in Upper Sagaing and Bago Regions, Kachin, Shan and Chin States and widespread in the remaining Regions and States with regionally heavy falls in Taninthayi  Region, Rakhine and Mon States and isolated heavy falls in Yangon and Ayeyarwady Regions, Kayin State. Degree of certainty is (100%).

STATE OF THE SEA: Squalls with moderate to rough sea are likely at times off and along Myanmar Coasts. Surface wind speed in squalls may reach (35) m.p.h.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: Strong monsoon.
